Restaurant Voronezh / Воронеж

One more destination on Moscow’s meat lover’s map

One of Alexander Rappoport’s newest project, restaurant Voronezh, a chic new butcher shop, cafe and restaurant, opend end of November 2015 in an old mansion on Prechistenka street.

A stylish departure from a traditional steakhouse and made for meat lovers.

Australian Sebbie Kenyon of the restaurant Les(art)ists became brand chef.

You need to reserve a table well in advanced (at least 2 weeks) as this place is so popular and it will be very difficult to break throug!!!

Looks like another winner.

On the first floor of the restaurant you’ll find a stylish butcher’s shop and cafe that offers burgers, homade sausages and signature sandwiches like the pastrami.

The second floor is for a more sophisticated dining experience with live piano music and genuine furnishing, where you enjoy the steaks, of which there are about 30 varieties combined with a spectacular view of the Christ the Savior Cathedral,

All of the meat is producest in the Voronezh region, as the name betrays.

For bigger groups or for special guests and occasions, Voronezh offers also a privat dining room, very stylish and cozy with capacity for 12 people.

When it comes to food, I had a very disappointing experience on my first vistit.

For starters we had a couple of things, like the Thai beef salad 560Rub, the crawfish tails in wasabi sauce 870Rub, classic beef tartar 560Rub and the borshch for 200Rub.

They tasted good but that certain something and the wow effect were missing.

So all my expectation was on the steak, the main actor of this place!

We ordered twice the Angleterre steak 660Rub and the Machete steak for 720Rub.

My steak was everything else than perfect!

The meat was by and tough as a shoe sole, really a pity.

However, the other Angleterre and the Machete were juicy and medium rare, just how a steak should be.

The service of Voronezh is very courteous and attentive and when it comes to wines, the list is quiet varid but it can be that they run out of cetrain wines after a few bottles.
