The Moscow Mule is a drink with history.
However it's not a cocktail invented in Moscow, as you may have thought.
The cocktail was invented by John G. Martin in Manhattan, 1941.
A Moscow mule is almost always served in a copper mug and become popularity of this way to drink it due to Martin, who went arount the country to sell Smirnoff vodka and popularize the cocktail.
The copper mug is certainly an eye-catcher but it's only a nice accessory and doesn't influences the taste of this drink.
How to make your own Moscow Mule:
- 20ml / 1,5oz lime juice
- 50ml / 2oz vodka
- 150ml / 5oz ginger beer
- Copper mug if available
Squeeze the lime juice into a copper mug or a glass and add 2 or 3 ice cubes.
Then pour in the vodka and fill with cold ginger beer.
And ready is the legendary Moscow Mule
