Autumn in my glass

Don't even think about waiting until Halloween!

The time to toss pumpkin into your cup or glass is right now.

It seems like each autumn I develop an obsession for a different seasonal fruit or vegetable.

At the moment I’m on the pumpkin kick :)

This Pumpkin and Apple Cider Fizz is a seasonal blend of pumpkin puree, vanilla vodka, cider and ginger beer.

The cocktail tastes very similar to pumpkin pie; however, it’...

Sweet and sour

This cocktail is a classic and is simple to make at home and aside from the whiskey, you need ingredients that are found in most kitchens: lemons, sugar and water.

The Whiskey Sour is a good choice for an aperitif or as a cocktail to precede a whiskey tasting.

It’s light, refreshing and makes a good palate cleanser.

The best way is to serve it on ice.

  • 60ml Whiskey or Bourbon such as Maker’s Mark or W...

A punch of summer

Sangria is a delicious fruit-based wine "punch" with its traditional heritage well rooted in Spain.

Typically, sangrias are made with red wine, fresh, seasonal fruit and a bit of bubbly water or citrus flavored soda.

They are easy to make, even easier to drink and a huge hit at summer gatherings.

Though there are many interpretations of what “traditional sangria” is, I’ve found that it typically requires these...

One of the things I love about travelling to Asia are the tropical fruits.

Some of them I had never even heard of until I came to visit this part of the world – now mangosteen, mango, passion fruit and lychee are regular items on my menu list. And it just so happens that the concentrated sweetness, fragrant aromas and textures of these fruits can create some of the most addictive cocktails I have ever tasted – esp...

Singapore Sling

Only three more weeks to go and I'm finally back in sunny Singapore Sling land.

The Singapore Sling is one of those wonderful drinks that we probably have all heard of, but perhaps have never had, because this recipe is often incorrectly recorded in most recipe books.

Even if you've think you've had it, you probably haven't.

The Singapore Sling was originally created around 1910 by Mr. Ngiam Tong Boon for the...

Bloody Mary

It's time to announce the cocktail of the month February: The legendary Bloody Mary and my absolute favourite cocktail!

The Bloody Mary is a classic cocktail of vodka, tomato juice and spices .

This long drink is also called "Hair of the dog" drink, reputed to cure hangovers due to its combination of a heavy vegetable base to settle the stomach, salt to replenish lost electrolytes and alcohol to relieve head and...
